Mt Davis Observation Tower Repairs
Mt Davis, Pennsylvania
The fire observation tower is located at the highest point in Pennsylvania on top of Mount Davis. It was originally built in the early 1940s and modified in the 1970s for public use. Maverick’s contract was to blast/paint the entire structure and replace all existing bolts with new structural bolts. Prior to starting work, Maverick notified the Owner that the existing diagonal bracing was severely corroded due to a flawed original design which trapped water in between the angle legs where it bolted to the main vertical supports. Maverick worked with the Owner/Engineer to develop a plan to systematically replace all diagonal members while not compromising the structures integrity. Maverick self-performed all steel repairs for the project and utilized Titan Industrial to remove the lead based paint and paint the structure with a three part high performance coating system. All work was completed ahead of schedule.
